Buzzing Week of May 1

Every year, Virginia's law enforcement participates in the Torch Run to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Virginia.{}Well Wednesday, May 2, you have a chance join the effort in Cici's Pizza Dough Raisers. Mention the Special Olympics at any Cici's Pizza and 10 percent of your meal will be donated to the cause. You can go to your local restaurant all day.

If you like learning about architecture and history, come out to Poplar Forest in Lynchburg Saturday, May 5. The Architectural Restoration Talk and Tour will give you a special tour of the house. Lecture and tour are free with regular admission, but you have to make reservations.

Saturday night, Trent Tomlinson will perform at Phase 2. The country singer will be on at 10 p.m. and the opening band gets on stage at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $20 at the door.

And in RoanokeMay 4-5 is the Community School's Strawberry Festival. The annual festival is one of the Valley's most popular events and fun events. It features delicious homemade strawberry desserts including shortcakes, sundaes, and slushies. There will also be live music, vendors and activities for the kids.
