The Buzz: Festivals & Performances Aug. 4, 2012

The fourth annual Campbell County Heritage Festival is Saturday, August 4. Come out to Campbell High/Middle School to learn about the area's rich history.There will be demonstrations, crafters, animal exhibits and live music. This year's main attraction is the HistoryMobile, a 78- foot tractor trailer that has a high-tech display of Virginia's history. That's 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Also on Saturday, spend a day on the water at the Altavista River Festival. There will be boat races, a canoe and kayak obstacle course and a bass fishing tournament. The Skyler McCurley Band will be performing all day, so you can bring your lawn chairs and have a great time with the family. That's 9:30 a.m. to 3 English Park.

If you're more of an indoor person and want a more relaxing evening, a great roots rocker is performing at the Ellington in Lynchburg on Saturday. Webb Wilder has been performing for more than 20 years mixing in the feel of blues, R&B and of course - rock and roll. He'll be on stage at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
