Buzzing Dec. 14-16: Honoring Veterans, Tree Lighting & Ellington Fridays
This weekend, we are honoring our veterans and those who have fought for our country. Saturday, December 15, people across the nation will take part in "Wreaths Across America Ceremony." You can come out to the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg where people will place wreaths on graves of veterans. That's from noon to 2 p.m., and it's free.
In Bedford, the National D-Day Memorial is having its annual Flames of Remembrance event. But this year, they're also having a Christmas in Wartime presentation. Come out Saturday and Sunday as thousands of luminaries shine in honor of fallen soldiers. That's free 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. You can also sponsor a luminary that will shine in the ceremony here.
In Danville, there's also a lighting ceremony just for Christmas. Come out to Ballou Park Saturday for the tree lighting! Student choir groups will be singing holiday songs, and there will be some treats. That starts at 4:30 p.m.
And if you're looking for just a good time with some great blues music--come out to The Ellington in Lynchburg Friday. The Deanie Blues Band always knows how to get the crowd on its feet. They'll be on at 6 p.m., and tickets are $10.
