Buzzing Aug. 17-18: Bluegrass Concerts & Local Farm Tour

August 17, a great sting-band based in Nashville is performing in Salem. Old Crow Medicine Show will be at the Salem Civic Center at 8 p.m. The group sings a variety of music but has been influenced by bluegrass, folk and old-time music. One of their biggest hits is the song "Wagon Wheel," which is one of my favorite songs. You can still buy tickets online.

You can also listen to a similar style of music at the Bluegrass and Old Time Country Jamboree Concert. The outdoor show is at Virginia's Explore Park in Roanoke Saturday, August 18. The Roanoke Valley Ramblers and Virginia Carolina bands will perform. Make sure you bring out blankets and chairs out there. That's 5 - 9 p.m. for $5.

Have you ever wondered how a farm works? This weekend you and your family have the chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at one of our local farms. The 2012 Bedford County Family Farm Tour is this Saturday in Sedalia. It will highlight Mountain Run Farm, a family farm that focuses on producing food for the local community. You can see all the animals and learn about the area's agricultural industry. That's 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
