If you're a Batman fan like me, you know what's going on this weekend. "The Dark Knight Rises" will be out in theaters July 20, and in most places you can catch the midnight showing. This is supposed to be the conclusion of the series, and it already has gotten great reviews. The movie takes place eight years after the 2008 film, "The Dark Knight." Batman comes out of exile after a ruthless terrorist plans to destroy Gotham. This is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, so if I were you I'd try to get tickets in advance.
In Lynchburg, the party with a purpose presents The House Band on Friday. Come out to Friday Cheers July 20 to listen to some soul, R&B and funk music. The House Band loves to get down and have fun on stage. That's 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Riverfront Park, and tickets are $5.
Also in Lynchburg, Camp C.H.I.L.D. (Children Having Identified Learning Disabilities) is holding a car wash fundraiser Friday. Come out to the Lynchburg Life Saving and First Aid Crew Hall on 2007 Memorial Avenue from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All donations will go to the Central Virginia Crime Stoppers.
July 20-22 is the Smith Mountain Lake Pirate Days. There will be fun events planned around the area. You get special discounts and prizes if you dress like a pirate. There will be live music, costume contests, and wine tasting.
