Lynchburg - The ODAC Baseball Tournament is off and running at Lynchburg City Stadium.
Regular season champ Bridgewater, 19-and-1 in the league this season, hosted six seed Roanoke in Thursday's opener. The Maroons took a 1-0 lead into the sixth, here it's Clark Crutchfield with the base knock to right. After flying out with the bases loaded in the fourth, Bridgewater's Zach Hynes got another chance here in the sixth and cashed in, stroking a tie-breaking rbi double to right center plating Derrik Walling and Ryan Smith, part of a three-run inning. That was more than enough for sophomore Corey Armentrout, who struck out nine and threw a complete game 5-hitter.
Bridgewater wins the opener over Roanoke 3-1.
Corey Armentrout, 5-HITTER, 9K FOR EAGLES, said "I felt great, I mean I felt like I had all my stuff and you know that was just a lot of confidence in myself and in the team because those guys were working off of me. And I knew we'd eventually get some runs across, I had faith in those guys."
Fifth-seeded Randolph-Macon beat number 2 Hampden-Sydney in game two 7-5.
