Danville, VA-- Riverside Lanes in Danville was packed Saturday afternoon, and all the bowlers were there for a good cause.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area held their fifth annual Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraising event.
Several families, businesses and organizations formed teams, and collected a minimum of $400 in pledges per group. Overall, they raised $42,000, making this year's event the most successful they've ever had.
"It's very important because it allows us to continue reaching out to children who may not have the big brother or big sister in their lives to help them keep on the right path of getting good grades and being good citizens in the community as well," said Kelvin Perry, Vice President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
The players who got the most pledges won prizes like gift cards and t-shirts.
