Halifax Co., VA-- The body of an elderly woman from Burlington, NC was discovered early Saturday morning in Halifax County.
90-year-old Ruzie Dixon Suggs had been reported missing four weeks ago. She was last seen dropping off a friend in Greensboro. Burlington police issued a silver alert for Suggs, who was driving a white 2005 Cadillac, and had her nine-year-old poodle with her.
Around 6 a.m. Saturday morning, hunters in the Aaron's Creek community came upon the missing car. They found it down an old farm road in a field, and called 911. Halifax County sheriff's deputies, along with Emergency Services Coordinator Kirby Saunders and the VA State Police responded to the scene.
Police say her dog was still alive, and was picked up by Animal Control. Suggs' body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond for an autopsy. Police say there was no sign of any foul play involved.
