Blue Rocks Snap Hillcats' 5-Game Win Streak
Lynchburg - Lynchburg's Will Skinner hit his team-leading 10th home run of the season in the eighth inning, but Wilmington snapped the Hillcats' 5-game winning streak with a 4-2 win Wednesday night at Calvin Falwell Field.
Wilmington broke a scoreless tie and posted all of the runs it would need with one swing of the bat in the second. After Cam Gallagher, Logan Davis and Terrance Gore loaded the bases with three singles, Jack Lopez cleared the bases with a two-out double to give the Blue Rocks a 3-0 advantage. Lynchburg answered with one run in the bottom half of the frame on a David Nick sacrifice fly. The Blue Rocks ran their lead back to three in the seventh when Bubba Starling launched a solo homer well over the center field fence for his ninth homer of the season.
Lynchburg's Jarett Miller recorded his ninth quality start in his last 10 outings, striking out eight and allowing three runs in six complete innings.
The Hillcats and Blue Rocks play the rubber match of the three-game series Thursday night in Lynchburg.
