Roanoke, VA - While the Blue Ridge Marathon continues to grow in size and recognition, organizers have come up with a unique way to get even more people involved.
Tuesday, race organizers announced a photo contest that will allow two winners to run in the relay version of the race with three of the sport's biggest names.
Runner's World Bart Yasso, 1972 Olympic gold winner Frank Shorter and Boston and New York Marathon winner Bill Rodgers will join two lucky winners in the race.
"With the running boom of the 70's they are still very relevant. We've been talking to different people about this race, and when we mention their names the audience gasps. I mean people know these names," said race organizer Pete Eshelman.
Just named Weather Channel's eighth most difficult marathon in the world, the fourth annual race will be held April 20.
