Black History Month Salutes: Wendell Scott

Wendell Scott was Nascar's first African American driver.

A native of Danville, Scott broke the motorsports color barrier May 23, 1952 at the Danville Fairground Speedway. He went on to achieve 147 top ten finishes and is still the only black driver to win a race in what is now the Sprint Cup Racing Series.

Wendell Scott passed away in 1990.
