Black Box Labels Linked To Rising Suicide Rates
Lynchburg, VA- Mental health experts are asking the Food and Drug Administration to remove black-box warning labels.
They warn that using the product could cause suicidal thoughts, and experts say the labels are connected to the rising number of suicides. A study done by the British Medical Journal found young adults and teens tend to not take anti-depressants for fear they will cause suicidal thoughts. Research shows this warning caused a reverse effect and teens were more likely to commit suicide when not taking these pills.
