Lynchburg, VA - Two local businesses come to the rescue of a fire department having money trouble.
Kidd's Restoration and Cleaning and Billy Craft Honda have donated their skybox at City Stadium for the July 4 game to the Big Island Volunteer Fire Department.
The winner of a silent auction gets to use the air conditioned, fully furnished suite.
The proceeds go to the fire department, which is trying to recover after its former treasurer was convicted on embezzlement charges.
The fire chief is thankful for this gesture.
"It was a very pleasant surprise. I did not expect anything like that. Especially from someone not in Bedford County, much less Big Island, to call and give us something like that to make some money."
You can place your bid in person at the firehouse on Lee Jackson Highway in Big Island, or call or email. Be sure to check your bid often.
