Big Island Stays Alive in American Legion Baseball State Tournament

Leesburg - Big Island stayed alive Wednesday in the American Legion State Tournament in Leesburg. Post 217 scored 7 runs in the 11th and beat Roanoke 12-8, Zach Duff went 6-for-7 at the plate, including three doubles, to lead the Big Island 21-hit attack. Quentin Palmer went 4-for-7 and drove in a couple of runs. Tre Allison pitched the first nine innings for Big Island, which advances to play again Thursday afternoon at 12:30 in the double elimination tournament. Roanoke is eliminated with its second loss.
