Richmond, VA - The Department of Agriculture is proposing major changes to foods in schools.
The new standards would make sure all foods sold in schools are healthier, and would ban candy, high calorie drinks, and greasy foods.
Under the new rules, school vending machines would sell water, low calorie sports drinks, diet sodas and baked chips.
Lunchrooms would offer healthier pizzas, low fat hamburgers, fruit cups, and yogurt.
This is all part of the government's effort to fight childhood obesity
