Bedford to Consider Firearms Ordinance Change

Bedford, VA - Hunting with guns might soon be allowed in the Town of Bedford, but only on some property.

An advisory committee will recommend changes to the firearms ordinance to town council Tuesday night.

Steve Rush, a councilman who also serves on the advisory committee, says the committee will present council with a preliminary ordinance.

Rush says the language would still permit hunting with firearms on land that was once in the county, but is now within town limits because of reversion. In other words, the committee wants to "grandfather in" those properties.

The committee will also suggest allowing hunting with firearms on any property that's 10 acres or more, within the original city limits.
