Bedford Police Unveil D-Day Car

Bedford, VA - Bedford Police and American Legion members unveiled a special D-Day tribute car Tuesday at The National D-Day Memorial.

Decals on the hood and back glass show images of the memorial and from June 6, 1944.

The police chief says they wanted to do something to honor the sacrifice of the Bedford Boys for the 70th anniversary of the invasion.

"It is probably one of the most significant things that ever happened to the Bedford community," said Chief Jim Day.

American Legion Post 54 secured about $550 to pay for the decals.

Two officers are assigned to drive the car.
