Bedford, VA - October is Crime Prevention Month and police are taking that message to the streets of Bedford.
Come out to the Bedford Farmers Market from 6-9p.m. Thursday for the town's 4th annual Crime Prevention Day event.
There will be music, games, activities for the kids, food, and door prizes. Various law enforcement and other agencies will be out there getting to know neighbors.
"The goal is just to let people see the different organizations and see the police officers in a different way, help us build a relationship with people in the community," said Lt. Todd Foreman, of the Bedford Police Department.
The Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will be there creating free child ID kits. Because of the computer equipment involved, that is weather permitting.
