Bedford County Sheriff's Office Sends Out Alerts Via Email or Text

Bedford Co., VA - One local law enforcement agency is using technology to stay in touch with you.

You can subscribe to alerts from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office on the office's new website.

They can be sent to your email address or to your cell phone in a text message.

Major Ricky Gardner says it's a way to let people know what's going on in the community, and it can also help deputies.

"The more eyes and ears we have out there, especially if we're looking for a lost person, lost child, a suspect in a crime, it's gotta be helpful."

If you'd like to start receiving the alerts, you can sign up on the sheriff's office website. It's free to sign up, but regular text messaging rates apply.
