Bedford Co. Planning Commissioner Resigns Over Zoning
Bedford Co.,VA- Tension is rising in Bedford County between the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission.
This week planning commissioner Lynn Barnes resigned over frustrations with the board. Barnes says the Planning Commission was asked to revise and change the county's zoning ordinance-- only to have their recommendations ignored by supervisors.
Barnes also believes supervisors fired former Bedford County administrator Kathleen Guzi over her stance and that she didn't resign.
"I see the decisions that are being made and why they are being made quite frankly in my opinion it is not in the interest of Bedford County," said Barnes.
Supervisors wanted to change the zoning ordinance to make it more business friendly and easier to understand. The Board will have to appoint new commissioners to replace the now two open spots.
