Bedford Co. Supervisors Approve Backyard Chickens

Bedford Co., VA - Supervisors in Bedford County have decided to allow backyard chickens.

Monday night, they approved a voting change that will allow residents in urban neighborhoods or subdivisions to keep chickens. This ordinance allows up to 18 chickens but does not allow roosters.

The chickens also have to be kept in enclosed coops. And before residents can start doing this, they must get a permit from the county.
