Bedford Co., VA - Investigators are looking for two possibly armed men they say were involved in a police chase Thursday.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office received a call around 2 a.m. from a resident in the 1400 block of Centerville Road. The resident said someone fired shots into the home.
Minutes later, a deputy tried to pull over a black Chevy Impala, traveling at a high rate of speed on Bell Town Road, when the driver took off.
After a pursuit, investigators say the car eventually crashed on Kincannon Road. Officials say there were four people in the car, and all of them ran from the scene of the crash.
The deputy was able to chase down one of the men and arrest him. A second man was later found and taken into custody at a nearby home.
Juan Welton, 20, and Augustus Xavier, 38, both from Roanoke, were arrested and taken to the Bedford Adult Detention Facility. They have been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, attempted burglary while armed, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. They are being held at the Bedford Adult Detention Center.
Investigators say Welton and Xavier won't give up the names of the other two in the car. No firearms have been recovered. Investigators say the two men on the run should be considered armed and dangerous.
A resident in the 3600 block of E. Lynchburg Salem Turnpike reported seeing one of the men in a field late Thursday morning. Investigators were unable to locate the suspects in a search, but did find clothing they believe the men took off to change their appearance.
