Averett Students Get Puppy Break
Danville, VA - Averett students took a break from finals Thursday to spend some time with puppies!
The University and the Danville Humane Society collaborated on Puppy Palooza.
The Averett Pack, a campus organization designed to develop bonds between students and dogs, provided trained dog handlers.
Studies have shown that interaction with dogs can be therapeutic.
Averett officials hoped the event would help their students relieve some end of the semester stress.
"We try to do this at least one time a semester. This is our second time, and it was so wonderful. We actually had people waiting for the puppies to arrive," said Mary Vanderlinden, Dean of students
The university also wanted to generate interest within the campus community for some of the dogs that were up for adoption.
