Arrest Made in Fatal Campbell County Hit and Run

State Police have made an arrest in the recent fatal hit-and-run crash in Campbell County. Wednesday night, troopers have arrested and charged 46-year old Raymond Ridge, Junior of Evington with one felony count of hit and run and one felony count of driving on a suspended license.

Ridge is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. The crash happened on September 24th on Timberlake Road near Route 859.

Troopers say a driver pulled into the path of moped driven by 53 year old Cecil Arthur of Madison Heights. The two vehicles collided causing Arthur to be thrown from the bike.

Investigators say a minivan driven by Ridge, Junior then struck Arthur and left the scene. Arthur died from his injuries.


Campbell Co., VA - Troopers say the minivan that hit and killed Cecil Arthur is a 1996 or 1997 silver Chrysler Town and Country.

It looks like the one in the picture attached. The minivan has front end damage.

State police say Arthur was driving his moped on Timberlake Road on Monday night when he was hit.

The impact threw him off the moped.
