Appomattox Co. Agrees to SRO in Four Schools

Appomattox, Co. - The County is moving forward in the effort to increase security in their public schools.

The board of supervisors just agreed to fund three more School Resource Officers. That would put one SRO in each public school from primary on up.
Sheriff Barry Letterman requested the additional resource officers. Letterman understands that an SRO won't stop everything but believes they can minimize an incident.
"We have to do everything we can to protect our students and staff and everybody who walks through the door to make sure they walk back out at the end of the day," Barry Letterman, Appomattox Co. Sheriff.
The budget has been agreed upon by the board but not officially approved. The final vote happens later this spring, after the public has been given a chance to comment.
