Antique Truck Parade Celebrates Bedford Fire Department's 125th Anniversary

Bedford Co., VA - The Bedford Fire Department celebrated its 125th anniversary Saturday, and in honor of the milestone, members put on an antique fire truck parade.

They had about 30 different fire trucks and gear in chronological order. The oldest piece was a hose cart from 1888.

They also had the Department's first ever motorized truck built in 1927. Lynchburg's original horse-drawn ladder truck was also in the parade.

One of the spectators was an 85-year-old Bedford native. He served in the Department for almost three decades until the 80s.

"I think it's great for the whole community, and especially the younger the people. They have never seen anything like what went on today. So it shows how things have improved during the years," said, Clyde Lipscomb.

After the parade, they had all of the trucks on display for people to see.
