Pittsylvania Co., VA - A group in Southside dedicated to helping injured animals is asking for your help.
The Animal Welfare League of Pittsylvania County is raising money to build a No-Kill Pet Adoption Center.
They formed in 2007, and ever since, have been saving animals and taking care of them in their volunteers' personal homes. Now, they're planning on purchasing 14 acres of land with a building so they can have an official facility.
They've raised $26,000 so far, but still need another $126,000.
"It would be wonderful for the organization, but mostly for the animals," said Angela Honeycutt, board member of AWLOPC. "Having this facility would allow us to save even more animals and it would give us the room and allow the volunteers to be freed up and to come on site."
Their big fundraiser will be this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 11060 Franklin Turnpike.
