Lynchburg, VA- The Amherst County School Board has approved the PTO's plans to put a new playground at Amherst Elementary School.
They voted Thursday night in favor of the playground that will be for second through fifth graders. But the PTO still has some work to do before the playground is a reality.
The equipment itself costs $8,800. The school received a grant for $5,000, and the PTO has raised $3,800.
They now have to raise money for the playground to be installed, hopefully before the kids go back to school.
"They're very excited. We already told them that the equipment is going to be coming in at the beginning of the school year. So they're very excited to have something to play on, so they're looking forward to it when they get here," said Sunnie Stonelake, president of the Amherst Elementary PTO.
The PTO needs to raise about $3,700 for labor and other supplies.
