Amherst, VA - Getting through a work week can be tough enough. Imagine having the same job for more than half a century, though.
That's the case for an Amherst County woman, now recognized as Virginia Tech's longest-serving employee in the school's history.
Helen Williams,73, started as an administrative assistant 55 years ago when the extension office in Amherst County was segregated by race.
Williams has outlived six different office buildings and outstayed countless employees since then. She says the secret is to keep the workplace fun.
Williams never considered quitting her job and has no plans to retire. Her staff says they wouldn't let her do it anyway.
