Amherst Co. Puppies Appear on 'Puppy Bowl'

Amherst Co., VA - Two dogs rescued in Amherst County have made quite a name for themselves. Arlo and Fitz competed in Animal Planet's annual puppy bowl on Sunday.

The former foster mother of the two littermates says they were surrendered to the Amherst County Animal Shelter in September.

In October, the puppies were sent to a rescue organization in New Jersey which entered them into the contest.

Andrea Cerqua watched the competition on TV.

"They went from shelter dog to super star in our opinion. So, it was pretty exciting for our whole shelter," Cerqua said.

The goal of Puppy Bowl is to raise awareness for rescue dogs.

Both Arlo and Fitz were adopted after taping wrapped up.
