Amherst Co. High School Dismisses Students Early Due to Bomb Threat

Amherst, VA - Amherst County High School let out early Friday after a bomb threat.

Greg Turner with the Amherst County Sheriff's Office says deputies are on the scene but have not located anything in the building.

He says administrators received the threat on a written note and decided to end classes early and dimiss school at 1:30 p.m.

Making a threat to bomb or burn a building is a felony in Virginia.
