Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg American Legion chapter is raising money for cancer research. Post 16 hosted a fundraiser event Sunday for the American Cancer Society.
Musical artist Lipbone Redding took center stage at the post, located off Greenview Drive.
A crowd of about 40 people stopped by throughout the three-hour event. Organizers hope the turnout will bring in a few hundred bucks for cancer research.
They say it's something that touches close to home for members of Post 16.
"We've had several who just recently passed away with cancer, we've had several that have recovered from cancer. I think everybody in this post, somewhere along the line, has been affected by cancer," said Bob Woods, Social Club Manager of Post 16.
American Legion Post 16 is also hosting a raffle fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Tickets are on sale for $10 until Nov. 2. You can buy them at American Legion Post 16.
