Altavista Holds Pep Rally for Boys and Girls Sendoff

Altavista - Altavista had a big sendoff for both its girls and boys basketball teams, who play state Final Four games on Thursday. The Colonels don't plan to leave until Thursday morning, but with the strong likelihood of no school Wednesday, better get that pep rally in now. And Altavista did just that. The Colonel boys are slated to play J.I. Burton Thursday at one, the girls face Clintwood at 3, both first-time opponents for Altavista.

Debra Spencer, ALTAVISTA GIRLS COACH, said "Clintwood is very quick, lot of guard pressure, fast, they play really fast, they get up and down the floor in transition, and they create a lot of turnovers."
Mike Cartolaro, ALTAVISTA BOYS COACH ON THURSDAY'S OPPONENT J.I. BURTON - "They've peaked when they needed to late, they pulled off a couple of upsets in tournament time and knocked off probably one of the better teams in southwest Virginia in order to get there. So athletic team."
