Alliance for Excellence Holds Conference for Area Students

Ringgold, VA - A local non-profit that works to helpminority students reach academic and personal success, spent the day inspiringseveral teenagers.

Alliance for Excellence held their annual African-American Male Conference at the Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Association Center in Ringgold.

Several middle school students, high school students and college students attended workshops that focused on how reach their full potential during school, and how to stay on the right path when they graduate.

"We want to make sure that our students not only know how to do well academically, but once they leave our schools and institutions, that they know to perform well out in the workforce," said Ervin Griffin, President of Halifax Community College in N.C.

There was also a panel discussion at the end of the conference which included local law enforcement and a city council member.
