ACC Football Title Game Staying in Charlotte

Charlotte - The ACC Football Championship Game will continue to be played in Charlotte for at least the next six years.

The ACC and Charlotte Sports Foundation Monday announced a six-year extension to stay in the Queen City through 2019. The title game has thrived in Charlotte with an average attendance of nearly 70 thousand, including a record crowd of more than 73, 600 when Virginia Tech faced Clemson in 2011.

John Swofford, ACC COMMISSIONER, said "Our coaches and teams really prefer a neutral site. They feel like that's what's best for a championship-caliber game."

The ACC Championship Game is played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers.
