Abused Danville Dog Now Available for Adoption

Danville, VA - The Danville dog severely wounded by a chain embedded in its neck this summer is now available for adoption.

Animal Control Officers took the dog away from a home by in August.

Thursday, a judge sentenced Paula Easley and her daughter Ella Easley to six months in jail each for animal cruelty.

After surgery and some TLC, the dog is doing much better now. The Humane Society has named her Dawn.

Ella Easley testified that she bought the dog in 2010 with her boyfriend, but didn't have contact with her for the past year.

Paula Easley's lawyer claimed though the dog was in her care, she wasn't responsible for her daughter's dog.

The judge said both were responsible.

Dawn is currently at the Danville Humane Society.
