91-Year-Old U.S. District Judge Passes Away

Radford, VA - A U.S. District Judge from Radford, who was appointed to the federal bench by then President Richard Nixon, has died.

Judge James Turk died Sunday at his home at the age of 91. Turk was appointed to the federal bench in 1972 and became a senior judge in 2002. He also served in the Virginia Senate from 1959 to 1972.

Turk's family is having a private viewing on Friday afternoon. That's followed by a funeral that is open to the public at 3:00 p.m.
