Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg tradition kicked off its 21st year Friday.
Friday Cheers drew in hundreds of spectators to the city's Riverfront Park.
The fundraiser is the largest money maker for Lynch's landing, and their efforts to help downtown revitalization. Last year, the non-profit raised $75,000 through the weekly concert series.
Friday night, early on, the rain managed to stay at bay, kicking the summer off right for folks in the hill city.
"Gives you a chance to turn around, come out, and hang out with other people, see some live music. It's great that they turn around and do something different every Friday" said one man.
"One of the reasons it's so successful, first of all, it's really the signal of summer. People are really ready, after such a cold spring, ready to start summer" said the event's organizer and the Executive Director of Lynch's Landing, Anna Bentson.
Friday Cheers is every Friday night through July 19th at Lynchburg's Riverfront Park.
